Discount Calculator
Discount calculations show you exactly how much a percentage-off deal actually saves in real currency and what the final price comes out to.
The formula
savings = original price × (discount % ÷ 100)
final price = original price − savings
Worked example
A $240 jacket is 15% off:
savings = 240 × 0.15 = 36
final price = 240 − 36 = 204
You'd pay $204 and save $36.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate a discounted price?
Multiply the original price by the discount percentage to find the savings, then subtract that from the original price. A 15% discount on $240 saves $36, for a final price of $204.
How do I stack two discounts?
Apply them one after another, not added together. A 20% discount followed by a 10% discount on $100 gives $80, then $72 — not a flat 30% off (which would be $70).
How do I find the original price from a sale price?
Divide the sale price by (1 − discount ÷ 100). A $204 sale price at 15% off means the original price was 204 ÷ 0.85 = $240.
